Honeyglaze offer up a complex debut single - calming with a lingering sense of unease. The intricacy of the track promises that the band will not disappoint with coming music.
Speedy Wunderground, the label known for producing music from the likes of Black Midi and Fontaines D.C, have just announced their most recent signing, Honeyglaze. The three-piece hail from London, made up of guitarist and lead singer Anouska Sokolow, bass player Tim Curtis, and Yuri Shibuichi on drums. Following their signing, Honeyglaze have released debut single, ‘Burglar’. The track, almost reaching six minutes in length, begins with gentle guitar chords, a static buzz quietly whirring behind them. A few beats of a drum and the soundscape becomes mesmeric and hazy, enchanting percussion emotively crashing alongside the reverberating guitar sounds.
The track weaves in and out of Duster-esque guitar tones, building into a chorus more reminiscent of Broadcast. Honeyglaze’s versatility in creating sounds that evoke optimism, sadness, and playfulness all in one track proves that the band is capable of conveying the melting pot of emotions experienced whilst navigating adulthood.
Honeyglaze offer up a complex debut single - calming with a lingering sense of unease. The intricacy of the track promises that the band will not disappoint with coming music. With a string of live dates this autumn to follow their debut single, Honeyglaze are certain to make waves in the current scene coming from South London, and we can’t wait to see their next musical offerings.
